Shreveport Regional Airport officially entered a new era of air travel on Thursday morning as Allegiant Air’s inaugural nonstop flight to Nashville took off, marking the launch of the long-anticipated route connecting the Ark-La-Tex to Music City.
The celebration began at 9:45 a.m. in the airport’s new pre-security waiting area on the second level, where travelers, officials, and community members gathered to commemorate the occasion. After passing through TSA screening, attendees made their way to Gate 7, where the festivities continued.
Guests were treated to Nashville-themed refreshments while airport officials and Allegiant Air representatives shared brief remarks about the significance of the new connection. By 10:30 a.m., the inaugural flight from Nashville touched down in Shreveport, greeted by cheers, cameras, and the excitement of travelers ready to embark on the new route back to Tennessee.
“This is a big day for Shreveport,” said Larry Blackwell, Director of Airports for the Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV). “We’ve worked for years to bring nonstop service to Nashville, and we’re thrilled to see it finally happen. It’s not just a new route—it’s an opportunity for tourism, business, and cultural exchange.”
The new service will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, through August 17, offering Shreveport residents and regional travelers a direct connection to one of the country’s most popular leisure and business destinations. While the route is currently slated as a seasonal offering, Crawford noted that Allegiant may consider extending service into 2026 if demand proves strong.
The flight marks the first time in four years that Shreveport Regional has added a new nonstop city to its roster—and the first time ever that the airport has offered direct service to Nashville.
Local leaders and business groups have long advocated for the route, citing Nashville’s growing economy, vibrant music and tourism industries, and increasing demand from both leisure and business travelers.
Airport officials are urging the public to take advantage of the flights to help ensure the route’s long-term success.
As passengers boarded the outbound flight to Nashville just before 11 a.m., a new chapter in Shreveport’s aviation story officially took flight—complete with southern hospitality and the sounds of Music City waiting on the other end.
