KTBS 3/KPXJ/CW 21 Independence Day Festival will be held in Festival Plaza on Monday, July 4 

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, LA – A variety of major events are planned in celebration of the Independence Day holiday in Shreveport-Bossier, including the annual KTBS 3/KPXJ/CW 21 Independence Day Festival as well as celebrations featuring craft beer, live music, a 5K run and more.

The KTBS 3/KPXJ/CW 21 Independence Day Festival will be held, 12-11 p.m., Monday, July 4, at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. Shreveport-Bossier’s biggest July 4 party, the festival will feature live music by country star Josh Turner at 8 p.m. and a huge fireworks extravaganza at 9:20 p.m. Food vendors, children’s play area, eating contests and giveaways will take place throughout the day. Admission is free.

Sci-Port Discovery Center will host Boom: A Fourth of July Science Celebration, 6:30-10:30 p.m., Monday, July 4. This ticketed event will offer guests the opportunity to experience the July 4 fireworks from Sci-Port while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and special Sci-Port programming. Tickets are $10-$40 each and are being offered at general admission and rooftop VIP ticket levels. Purchase tickets by visiting www.sciport.org/boom.

Harrah’s Louisiana Downs will host exotic animal races beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 4. Camels and ostriches will race throughout the day and local food trucks will be on site. The Sportspectrum Firecracker 5K Run for Research, a 5K run held in Shreveport’s historic South Highlands neighborhood, will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 4. The Firecracker 5K is one of the most popular street races in Shreveport-Bossier, attracting more than 3,500 participants each year.

Several exciting Independence Day celebrations will take place during the weekend leading up to July 4. Great Raft Brewing, an acclaimed craft brewery located at 1251 Dalzell Street in Shreveport, will host their annual Independents Day party, 12-9 p.m., Saturday, July 2. The day-long party will feature barbecue by Southern Fork Catering, pop-up shops from local clothing and record stores, live music from 4-9 p.m. and more. Country superstar Trace Adkins will perform at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel Riverdome at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 2.
