James Allen Burton, Jr.

BOSSIER CITY – James Allen Burton, Jr. left this world January 9, 2014. He was loved by few, respected by many, and FEARED by most. Jim was born on April 21, 1953 and spent the next 60 years living life in his own unique way. He loved to impart jewels of wisdom to others (whether we wanted to hear it or not!), and to make sure that things always were done his way.

He loved dogs (mainly because they don’t talk back), cooking for others, driving with the sunroof down, and his 3-hour lunches with “the boys”. He had many faults all of which paled in comparison to his huge heart and selfless acts to help everyone around him.

Those who knew Jim will forever miss his warmth, generosity, way with words, and odd sense of humor.

Jim was predeceased in death by his mother, Sigrid Elizabeth Benson Burton. He is survived by his sons Marshall and Ryan, his daughter Lindsey, former wife Cindy, sister Patty, niece and nephew Christina and Timothy, daughter-in-law Morgan, granddaughter Alice, and the hundreds of people in his life that some might define as friends, but he always considered to be family.

A gathering in his honor will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday January 15th, at the Shreveport Petroleum Club downtown, where we plan to celebrate his life, as you know, that’s the only way Jim would want it.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Jim, tell your family you love them, call a friend that you have not talked to in some time, take care of yourself, and look forward to tomorrow while living for today.
