HAUGHTON – A Mass of Christian Burial for James Richard Clifton, 86, will be held on Thursday September 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Pike Thomas officiating. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, with a vigil following at 7:00 p.m.
James was born on January 21, 1927 in London Ohio to the parents of William J Clifton and Anne Foreman Clifton and went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2013 at his home in Haughton, Louisiana. He joined the Navy during WW II and after the war he joined the Army Air Corp and retired after serving his country for 21 years, at Barksdale A.F.B. After retiring for the military he went to work at AT&T as a security guard. After leaving AT&T he decided to travel with his loving wife going to her home in Ireland and other locations throughout the United States. He was a member of the A.F.S.A and a life member of V.F.W. Post 5951 in Bossier City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son Michael James Clifton, one brother, William J. Clifton II and a sister, Joan Clifton. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Clifton; niece, Pamala Long and nephew, William J. Clifton III.
Honoring James as pallbearers will be Barksdale A.F. B. Honor Guard.
