BOSSIER CITY – Janet Yvonne Butler was born December 27, 1937 in Sioux Falls, SD. Her parents were Inez and Olaf Haugen. She passed away June 10, 2013 in Bossier City after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Butler was a military wife, following her husband’s career to many Air Force Bases and was tremendously active in the USAF Family Services. She had a very full career in retail management with Dillards and AAFES. For over 50 years Mrs. Butler sang in choruses across the south, active in the Pride of Dixie chapter of Sweet Adelines. She had a hobby of making very detailed dollhouse miniatures, sometimes exact duplicates of actual rooms. She had a great sense of humor and gave great joy through laughter. Preceding Mrs. Butler in death was her parents; her sisters, Dorothy and Audrey; and her brother, Duane.
Surviving Mrs. Butler is her husband of 59 years Retired MSgt Ralph R. Butler, USAF; sons, Scott Butler of Bossier City, LA, Steven Butler and wife Dina of Fayetteville, AR, Michael Butler of Cordova, AK and Daniel Butler of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren, Michael, David, Timothy, Margaret, and Riley; many other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 16, 2013, 1:30 PM in the Chapel of the NW LA War Veterans Home, 3130 Arthur Ray Teague Pkwy, Bossier City, LA.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to local Alzheimer’s support groups.
