ELM GROVE – Funeral services for Jimmy D. “Jimbo” Henry, 72, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Bobby Henley. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at the funeral home.
Jimmy was born May 30, 1941 in Logansport, LA and passed away on May 31, 2013 in Shreveport, LA. Jimmy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Caddo Parish Commission after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 2239 and American Legion, Post 388. Jimmy enjoyed pitching horseshoes, traveling, fishing, crabbing, bowling, woodworking, and especially spending time with his family and countless friends.
Jimbo was “one of a kind.” He was loving, compassionate and selfless among many things. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face and a kind word even during the worst days of his 17 year battle with cancer.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Jack Daniel Henry; mother, Clara Mae Brown Dearmond; and brother, Jackie Wayne Brown. Left to cherish his memory are his companion, Connie Myers; sister and best friend, Nelda Addison; 2 nephews and 3 nieces; and many great-nieces and nephews as well as numerous “adopted” children. Although he did not have any children, many thought of him as a father figure and an extraordinary role model.
Pallbearers will be Chad Stone, Justin Stone, Nicholas Stone, Dickie Smith, Alan Bass, and Greg Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be James Breedlove, W.H. Stone, Mike Ricardo, Ken Stewart, Joe Cascio, and William “Buddy” Johnson.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Manish Dhawan, MD and his staff for many years of loving care; Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital, Jonathan Davis, MD and Eric Smith, MD.
