Jindal appoints CIC’s Spohn to Community and Tech Colleges Board

Gov. Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Craig Spohn to the Community and Technical Colleges Board of Supervisors.

Spohn, of Benton, is the Director of the Cyber Innovation Center. Spohn will be appointed to serve as a representative of the 4th Congressional District, as required by statute.

The Community and Technical Colleges Board of Supervisors serves to supervise and manage the public institutions of higher education assigned to its jurisdiction as well as the public institutions which exclusively or predominantly provide programs of vocational-technical education.

According to statute, the board is comprised of seventeen members, fifteen of whom are gubernatorial appointments requiring senate confirmation. One member must be appointed from three nominations by the Louisiana AFL-CIO, one member must be appointed from three nominations by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, two members must be appointed from six nominations by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. At least two of the members appointed by the governor must have significant experience in vocational education.
