John Howard Quackenbush Sr.

John Howard Quackenbush Sr., 62, of Bossier City, Louisiana, quietly passed away April 16, 2022 at his family home after a short battle with cancer. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his wife, children, and family who he adored more than anything else in the world.

John was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on August 18, 1959 to Bobby Wayne and Donna Darliene Quackenbush. It was with his father he learned to work on motors and vehicles which started his love for cars, racing, and working with his hands that would stay with him throughout his life.

John was a business owner, with his siblings, of A-1 Custom Marble for over 30 years. He was well respected in the building industry in the SBC area. After retiring the family business, he went to work for the Bossier Parish Police Jury.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby W. and Donna D. Quackenbush; brother, Mike Quackenbush; sister-in-law Tanna Quackenbush; brother-in-law, David Dull; niece, Angie Stevenson; father and mother-in- law, Robert and Betty Hanson.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Hanson Quackenbush; sons, John H. Jr. (Haley), Matthew K. and Collin W. Quackenbush; daughters, Katelyn N. and Rebecca D. Quackenbush; grandchildren, Graham H. and Adeline C. Quackenbush; sisters, Lynn D. Dull, Pam Peterson (Rick), and Cindy Charon (James); brother Gary Lee Leischner (Hong) as well as numerous relatives and friends and his beloved dogs, Bella and Joonie.

Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 24, 2022 in the Hill Crest State Room from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
