HAUGHTON – Services for June Cecelia Woodson, 78, will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1:00p.m. at St. George’s Episcopal Church with Fr. James Flowers and Fr. Guido Verbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. There will be a reception prior to the service at St. George’s staring at noon.

June was born April 20, 1935 in Deadwood, South Dakota, and passed away on March 5, 2014 in Bossier City. June enjoyed her time as an Air Force wife and especially enjoyed her postings in Bangor, Maine and at Barksdale. She was a faithful member of St. George’s, serving as the church secretary for many years. June loved animals, believing that “he prayeth best who loveth best all things great and small.” She was a dedicated volunteer with Paws with a Purpose; she and Tucker visited people at the Glen Retirement home, the Veterans’ Home, and various schools. She especially enjoyed working with dogs and dog-people through the Red River Retriever Club; she and Jack were named lifetime members of this organization. June loved plants; her perfect yard had over 400 different varieties of flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; she will be missed greatly by all that knew loved her

She was preceded in death by her parents, .Jack and Madonna Smith, stepsister, Jacqueline Rochester O’Connor, and daughter Patricia Jo Woodson. June is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Jack Woodson; son, Jeffrey Woodson and his significant other, Susan Martinez; daughter, Kathy O’Neal and husband Kevin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Woodson and sister, Susan Swanton and husband Michael.
