BOSSIER CITY – Services for Thelma Smith Nix, 95, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Airline Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Patton, Senior Adult Minister at Cypress Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.

Thelma was born on November 29, 1917 to Ocia and Pearl Smith in Orange, Texas, and died October 30, 2013 in Bossier City, LA. She was a faithful member of Airline Baptist Church and was retired from Pulley-White Insurance Agency where she was employed for 34 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Nix, her son, Milton Nix, and her sisters, Doris Ann Smith and Margaret Jo Mikell.

She is survived by her son, Randy Nix and wife Charlotte of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law, Sandra Nix of Benton; granddaughters, Cheryl Chavarria and husband Ben of Bossier City; Cathy Horne and husband Steve of Jacksonville, FL; Christi Ellison and husband Chris of Middleton, ID; grandsons, Lance Nix and wife Rhonda of Bossier City, Brian Nix and wife Jinkie of Bossier City, and Jeremy Nix and wife Sarah of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Chavarria, Lindsey Vierra, Sage Chavarria, Hudson Horne, James Horne, David Horne, William Horne, Emma Ellison, Nathan Ellison, Anna Ellison, Matthew Ellison, Mark Ellison, Timothy Ellison, Titus Ellison, Brandon Nix, Peyton Nix, Noah Nix, Julian Nix, and Aria Nix; nieces, Brenda Rosales, Cindy Miller, Paula Johnson, Linda Gentry and Nelda Manning; nephew Mike Smith and a number of great nieces and nephews, as well as a very special friend and care-giver, Deborah Moore.

Special thanks to the staff of Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home and Hospice for the special care given during Mrs. Nix’s stay.

Honoring Mrs. Nix as pallbearers will be Rickey Greer, Trey Golden, Brandon Nix, Sage Chavarria, Ben Chavarria and Bill Nichols.
