The Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Allen Chenevert Assembly #2100 located at 5400 East Texas Street, Bossier City, representing all of Bossier and Webster Parishes, held their annual “Honor the Local First Responders” with the Patriotic Awards this past Saturday evening February 28.

Five recipients and their guests were honored for “Continuous, Unselfish Dedication to” the organizations that they represent.

The local Bossier Council prepared an outstanding meal of Barbeque chicken and ribs and sausage with all the fixing’s, served by representatives of the La Tech and Grambling ROTC members. After the meal, David L Bodden, Past Faithful Navigator of the Assembly, with the assistance of Acting Captain Brett Barrow explained the program where candidates form the Bossier City Police Department, the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department, the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Department, the Barksdale Air Force Base Airman, and the Assembly’s Sir Knight were presented with the “2014 Patriotic Award” for their organizations.

The winner of the 2014 Bossier City Police Officer of the year was Sgt. Jeff Ross.

The winner of the 2014 Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Deputy of the year was Capt. Gary Paddy.

The winner of the 2014 Webster Parish Sheriff’s Deputy of the year was Capt. Barry James.

The winner of the 2014 Sir Knight of the Year Award was Sir Knight Calvin C. Joyner, District Marshall, Assembly Color Corp Commander, and Past Faithful Navigator of the Assembly.

The 2014 BAFB Airman of the year was Senior Airman Sheri-Lee Calzone. Senior Airman Sheri-Lee was most pleasantly surprised on Friday evening when she was announced as Barksdale’s choice as Air of the year, and was presented a letter requesting her to call us because we didn’t know until late Friday evening who this years winner was. But, she graced us with her presence for receiving her second award in two days.

There are still two Awards that have been earned. However, due to other commitments, the recipients were unable to attend. They are the Bossier City Fireman and the Clergy of the year awards.
