SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, LA – The Southeast Tourism Society (STS), a regional marketing alliance based in Roswell, GA, has named the Krewe of Gemini Mardi Gras Parade to its annual list of “Top 20 Festivals and Events” for February 2017. The honor was announced via e-mail on Tuesday, March 14.
Through a nomination process, STS chooses the Top 20 Events in the Southeast for each month of the year and publishes this list of winners quarterly. The Top 20 Events listings reach over 1,600 media outlets each quarter including web, magazines, radio, TV stations, AAA publications and newspapers.
“Being named a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society is a wonderful thing,” said Krewe of Gemini Captain Mary Louise Stansell. “It helps to get our name out there and raises awareness of our parade. It’s also great for our museum, that’s for sure.”
STS is dedicated to promoting and developing tourism in its member states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. In 1985, in recognition of the unique, diverse and unparalleled events in the region, STS began the Top 20 Events award program. A Top 20 Award seeks to bring more publicity and recognition to the best events in the Southeast. STS selects the Top 20 events, per month, and publishes them on a quarterly basis. Previous events in Shreveport-Bossier that have been named to the STS Top 20 Festivals and Events list include the Let the Good Times Roll Festival, Mudbug Madness Festival and Cinco de Mayo Festival.
