Kroger’s Texas Division and The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger Zero Waste Foundation today kicked off the holidays with its fifth annual community hunger campaign, End Hunger Here. The company is aiming to raise $500,000 in cash donations this year – which translates to 1.5 million meals, in partnership with hunger relief organizations, including North Texas Food Bank, Tarrant Area Food Bank, East Texas Food Bank, Food Bank of Central Louisiana, and Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.
Beginning Wednesday, November 12 through Tuesday, December 2, customers can provide relief to food-insecure families through the End Hunger Here fundraiser. At checkout, shoppers will have the option to round up their total to the nearest dollar or make a donation of $1, $5 or $10 that will be added to their total. All donations raised in Texas, East Texas and Northwest and Central Louisiana will stay in those areas.
“Creating millions of meals annually for our neighbors experiencing hunger and supporting our communities is what we do every day as part of Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social and environmental impact plan,” said Rudy DiPietro, president, Kroger’s Texas Division. “We are deeply grateful to our generous customers whose compassion and support make this mission possible year after year. We also extend a sincere thank you to NBC5 and Telemundo33 for their continued partnership in amplifying this fundraiser and helping us bring more meals to more families in need.”
In North Texas, Kroger is partnering with NBC5/Telemundo 39 to promote the campaign. Both NBC5/Telemundo39 are committed to fighting hunger in North Texas.
Kroger would like to thank Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl for their generous donation of $10,000 to kickstart this year’s End Hunger Here campaign in celebration of the launch of Duffy’s Dough breads at Kroger stores in Texas. Additionally, the grocer appreciates the Kraft Heinz Company for also committing to a $10,000 End Hunger Here donation.
