Lane closure on I-20 to be extended

A closure of I-20 in Bossier City will be extended by several hours.

Beginning last Thursday, the Eastbound I-20 lane over Westerfield St. and Union Pacific Railroad, just east of Hamilton Road, was reduced to one lane of traffic. The I-20 eastbound on ramp from Hamilton Road and the I-20 eastbound off ramp to LA 3 (Benton Road), Exit 20B, was also closed.

Due to contractor equipment failure, the lane closure for Phase 1 of this work will be extended through the night of Monday, October 15.

Phase 2 will begin once Phase 1 is complete, which involves the closure of one outside lane of I-20 eastbound over Westerfield Street.

The I-20 eastbound on-ramp from Hamilton Road and the I-20 eastbound off-ramp to LA 3 (Benton Road), Exit 20B, will remain open.

Phase 2 is expected to last approximately 14 days.

This work is to replace the east bridge end and roadway approach to the bridge.

DOTD advises that loads are restricted to 12 feet in width.

They add the alternate route for thru traffic will be I-220.
