Thursday, Bossier City police officers took approximately 50 children in need Christmas shopping at the Wal-Mart Super Center, 2536 Airline Drive, for the Shop with a Cop program sponsored by Bossier City Police Local 645 and the Bossier Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #39. Bossier City police officers accompanied the children and shopped for Christmas gifts for them with funds raised locally by members of Local 645 and the Bossier FOP chapter and given generously by members of the public. Each child was pre-selected from Bossier City elementary schools based on their family’s financial need.
Santa Claus paid a special visit to the Viking Drive Substation in Bossier City Thursday morning to help Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington and his deputies deliver Christmas presents to 169 needy boys and girls in Bossier Parish as part of Operation Santa Claus. The Bossier Sheriff’s Office teams with the Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Fire Department and Townsquare Media to sign up children in need throughout our area.
