BOSSIER CITY – Leonard Green, Jr., 96, died Saturday, April 5, 2014. He was the third of five children born to Dr. Leonard and May Hankins Green. Following retirement at Barksdale Air Force Base, he taught sheet metal skills at the Caddo Career Center with the Caddo Parish School System for a number of years.
He and his wife, June, were dedicated fans of the Lady Techsters Basketball Team, following them to the four corners of America. Leonard, always holding up his banner “Love Those Lady Techsters”, became affectionately known as The Banner Man.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Green; sister, Catherine Green; brothers, George and Albert Green; and son-in-law, Melvin Methvin. Surviving him are his wife, June Green; daughter, Lynda Methvin; sister, Lucy Oakley (Eddie); grandchildren, Cyndi Smith (Chuck), Sherry Lowery, and Darlyne Methvin; great-grandchildren, Austin and Lauren; special family friend, Brenda Bryant, who always made him laugh; step-daughter, Karen Nightingale; step-granddaughter, Vickie Moore; and step-great-grandchildren, Rachel, Jacob, and Lily.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, April 10th, 5-7 p.m., at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, at 10:00 a.m., at Kings Hwy. Christian Church, Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Jonesboro City Cemetery in Jonesboro, LA.
