BOSSIER CITY – Lester David Segelhorst went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. A time of fellowship will be held with many friends and family Friday, August 16, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Airline Drive in Bossier City, LA.
Lester retired from Complete Auto Transit after 44 faithful years of over-the-road trucking through every state but Alaska and Hawaii, receiving multiple safe driving awards. More recently he served the Bossier Council on Aging Meals on Wheels program. He was one of the original members of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Posse, a 32nd degree Mason, an El Karubah Shriner, a member of Teamsters Local Union 568 and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Les loved to hunt, fish, travel, fly, pull his kids behind a ski boat, visit Branson and cheer for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather. His favorite songs were “At Calvary” and “You Are My Sunshine”. He loved the Lord and his family with all his heart. The last thing he always said to us was, “I love you. Be careful”.
He was preceded in death by Melba Hepp Segelhorst, the mother of his four daughters; parents, Edward and Florence Segelhorst; brother, Harold Segelhorst and sister, Evelyn Smith. Celebrating his life today are his loving wife of 33 years, Carolyn Carathers Segelhorst; daughters, Nancy Wiggins and husband Roger, Debra Segelhorst, Betty Hammett, and Joyce Segelhorst; grandchildren, Michael David Wiggins and wife Traci, Tori Hammett, Johnathan Segelhorst, Laney Hammett, and Elizabeth Moran and husband Jamie.
