Library: Electronic databases reviewed for renewals & cancellations

Each year, the Louisiana State Library Data-base Committee reviews their electronic databases to determine what to keep based on the amount of usage as well as the cost of providing the services to public libraries across the state. Due to budget issues some items are renewed, others are not.

On the list of renewed items on EBSCO are: Learning Express—Testing Module; Learning Express—popular software tutorials through Dec. 31 (will be reevaluated at that time); Tumblebooks; Pronunciator; HomeworkLouisiana; Gale Virtual Reference Library; Literati; Scribner; Twaynes; Britannica eBooks; EBSCO eBooks; EBSCO audio-eBooks.

The cancelled list is short: Newsbank—effective December 31; and Learning Express—Computer Basics.

Several new EBSCO Databases have been added: Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center; Legal Information Reference Center; Small Business Reference Center.

Go to the Bossier Parish Library website, www.bossierlibrary.org and click on State Library Databases under the Research & Homework menu where you will find these resources and so much more.
