Local center offers help with domestic violence

The Samaritan Counseling Center of Shreveport-Bossier will host Reclaiming Your Voice: From Surviving to Thriving next month.

SamaritanCounsCtrThis weekly women’s domestic violence group will begin meeting Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Topics include healthy relationships, dating abuse, domestic violence, conflict resolution, parenting, stress management and communication.

The group is designed to provide support and information on the dynamics and effects of abusive relationships for victims of domestic violence and identify behaviors of healthy, respectful relationships.

The facilitator for this group is Mrs. Jean Baldwin, M.A., LMFT. Mrs. Baldwin, a licensed marriage and family therapist, has been with the center since 2002. She provides staff development and educational workshops for the community.

The Samaritan Counseling Center, located at 1525 Stephens Avenue in Shreveport, has provided professional, faith-based counseling to the Shreveport-Bossier City area since 1986 and provides over 4,200 counseling and group hours each year. Over 80% of clients are subsidized by fundraisers, donations, and grants.
