Louisiana National Guard announces death of Soldier

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana National Guard announces the death of a Louisiana Army National Guard Soldier on Sunday.

Sergeant William Mitchell Benham, 32, Folsom, La., died September 15, 2024, in Alexandria, La.

Sgt. Benham was assigned as a fire team leader to A Company, 3^rd Battalion, 156^th Infantry Regiment, 256^th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He was in Title 32 status conducting inactive duty training at Fort Johnson, La.

The incident is under investigation by the Fort Johnson Criminal Investigations Division.
