Louisiana National Guard announces death of Soldier

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana National Guard announces the death of a Louisiana Army National Guard Soldier on Sunday.

Sergeant William Mitchell Benham, 32, Folsom, La., died September 15, 2024, in Alexandria, La.

Sgt. Benham was assigned as a fire team leader to A Company, 3rd Battalion, 156th Infantry Regiment, 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. He was in Title 32 status conducting inactive duty training at Fort Johnson, La.

The incident is under investigation by the Fort Johnson Criminal Investigations Division.
