The Louisiana Family Forum (LFF) recognized District 36 State Senator, Ryan Gatti, as a recipient of the 2016 Life and Liberty Award at its Annual Legislative Awards Gala September 15.
The Life and Liberty Awards are given to legislators who successfully pass legislation that promotes life, liberty and limited government.
“I am truly honored to have been chosen for this award,” said Senator Gatti. “Children are our hope and our destiny. They are not merchandise. If you sell baby parts in Louisiana, you will go to jail – period.”
This year, Senator Gatti was chosen as a recipient thanks to his Senate Bill 33 of the 2016 Regular Legislative Session. SB 33, now Act 196, bans the sale, receipt, transfer or acquisition of a fetal organ or body part from an induced abortion and subjects those who violate the law to felony prosecution with a minimum of ten years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000 if convicted.
