(Baton Rouge, LA.) – As Louisiana anxiously awaits to see Ida’s final path, Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) stands ready to help keep residents informed and safe, by serving as a critical resource during emergencies. LPB is the state’s live pool feed for emergency briefings and press conferences from Governor John Bel Edwards and for other critical communications. That feed is available to all television and radio stations – both public and commercial – across the state.
Additionally, LPB is once again prepared to help provide emergency communications to residents of the New Orleans metro area through our partnership with WWL-TV. Since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, LPB has provided WWL-TV with back-up broadcast facilities, serving as a safe harbor so their staff can continue to supply important updates and information to the residents that depend on them in a crisis.
LPB’s ability to reach a statewide audience provides a critical resource that is free to residents who do not have to depend on cable or satellite to receive our signal. It is available by antenna or online via www.lpb.org/livetv or with the LPB App. LPB also maintains an emergency information page on our website with current information and links to important resources.
