LSUS Students present at LBRN Symposium

LSUS faculty members and students from the departments of chemistry, biology, and bioinformatics attended the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) annual symposium in Monroe, LA February 12-14, 2016.

Dr. Brian Salvatore presented his recent research progress on the “Design and synthesis of novel polyphenol cancer therapeutics based on the caffeic acid scaffold.” Dr. William Yu gave a talk entitled “Near infrared bioimaging probes based on surface plasmon enhancement.” Dr. Urska Cvek presented her research on the synthesis and release of Neurovascular Biomarkers of Lymphatic Activation (NEBuLA) in multiple sclerosis.

LSUS students Anthony Blankenship, Theresa Hernandez, Alena Smith, Ryan Grant, Pearline Davis, Ryan Hammontree, Phillip Kilgore, Kenneth Smith, and Steven Burke all presented posters at the meeting under the direction of their mentors Drs. Trutschl, Mahdavian, Fitzgerald, and Huang.
