LT.Col Wilfred “Rusty” Bowman U.S.A.F. (Ret.)

BOSSIER CITY – Services for Wilfred “Rusty” Bowman, 76, will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Msgr. Earl Provenza officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at Hill Crest Funeral Home.

Rusty was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 18, 1937 and passed away on June, 27, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Rusty grew up in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Jesuit High School. Rusty joined the United States Air Force in 1957. He received his commission through the Aviation Cadet Program. He was an electronics warfare officer on the mighty B-52 serving in Vietnam and participated in Linebacker II. He retired as a Lt. Col at Barksdale A.F.B. after serving 25 years. After retiring from the Air Force Rusty went to work for Bell South and later went to work for the Better Business Bureau from 1985-1995. Rusty was a member of the Bossier City Lions Club, the downtown Shreveport Rotary Club, the Council of Aging, and received his degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

He is survived by, his loving wife of 53 years, Sylvia Jean Bowman; three sons, Russell (Kristina), Andrew (Stefanie) and Stephen (Cynthia); a daughter, Lynne Watson (Jim); seven grandchildren, Matt Watson, Darren, Lauren and Jared Bowman, Andrew Bowman, Chloe and Bella Garza and many nieces and nephews.

We will greatly miss our loving dad, husband and grandfather. Anyone who knew Rusty will always remember his great sense of humor and great smile. We Love You Dad!
