LWCC, Louisiana’s largest workers’ compensation carrier, today announced the results of its Holiday Giving Program, an initiative dedicated to strengthening communities and supporting impactful nonprofits across the state. The program awards a $20,000 shared cash donation to three Louisiana-based nonprofits, nominated by LWCC’s agent partners and voted on by the public.
The 2024 Holiday Giving Program received 28 unique nominations from LWCC’s agent partners. From those nominations, three finalists were selected:
· Empower 225, Baton Rouge: A nonprofit dedicated to equipping at-risk youth with the resources, relationships, and skills they need to achieve stability and independence.
· Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA), Baton Rouge: An organization focused on saving and healing lives through organ and tissue donation, while providing support to donor families.
· Providence House, Shreveport: A mission-driven nonprofit working to break the cycle of homelessness for families with children through comprehensive support services.
To engage the broader community, LWCC opened public voting to determine the allocation of funds among the three finalists. Over 2,500 votes were cast, reflecting the enthusiasm and commitment of Louisianans to support these vital organizations.
“This year’s Holiday Giving Program showcased the incredible power of collaboration and community spirit,” said Tim Reier, LWCC Agency Relations Manager. “By working together with our agent partners and the public, we’ve not only strengthened our relationships, but also empowered organizations that are driving positive change in Louisiana.”
The final distribution of funds, based on public voting, resulted in a donation of $10,600 to LOPA, $5,400 to Empower 225, and $4,000 to Providence House.
