BOSSIER CITY – Graveside service will be held for Donald W. Barnes at Hill Crest Memorial Park on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with full military honors. Rev. Gevan Spinney, Pastor of First Baptist Haughton, will be officiating the service.
Major Barnes served his country for 26 years in the United States Air Force and he served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Loyal Order of Moose, Legion #162, Shreveport, LA. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, pool and loved relaxing on a cruise.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Barnes; mother, Louise Barnes Fruge’, father, Seth Barnes and sister, Martha Cole.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Laura McGee and husband Steve, Jeri Hicks and husband Jim and Leslie Sewell; one son, Larry Barnes; sister, Margaret Burton; brother, Gene Barnes and wife Gayle and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
