BOSSIER CITY – Margie Lisenby Ponder, 88, of Bossier City, LA, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Friday, August 23, 2013. She was born May 11, 1925, in Olla, LA, daughter of Earnest and Dicie Lisenby of La Salle Parish.
Margie grew up in Olla, LA, where she graduated high school and moved to Shreveport/Bossier City, later marrying Charles Ponder. She worked with dedication most of her life, including over 20 years with Weingarten’s where she retired, and continued sitting with elderly patients for years.
She loved the Lord and always wanted others to know Him. Margie was actively involved in her church for many years and currently a member of Central Assembly of God.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Ponder, son Greg Ponder, daughter Janet Posey, and brother James Earnest Lisenby. She is survived by her son Mark Ponder, daughter-in-law Judy Ponder, two sisters Dot Jackson and Alma Hall (husband David), two brothers E.C. “Stumpie” Lisenby, Jr. (wife Rita) and Elmer “Bubba” Lisenby (wife Ollie); five grandchildren Stephen Posey (wife Tracey), Lisa Gober (husband Roy), Karen, Beth, and Ross Ponder, and five great grandchildren, Joshua, Isabelle, Gracelyn, Gabriel Posey and Adeline Gober.
The family will welcome friends on Monday, Aug. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home (601 Hwy 80 East, Haughton, LA, 71037). Funeral service will be held at Central Assembly of God in Haughton on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park.
