BOSSIER CITY – Services for Mary Carolyn “Inky” Tracy Hockett, age 73, will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Rose-Neath Bossier City. Officiating will be Dr. Ramonalynn Bethley, senior pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5pm – 7pm Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.

Mary was born on September 12, 1940 in Alexandria, LA, to Rhoda and Woodrow Tracy. Born weighing less than 3 pounds, Mary was a fighter. She spent the first months of her life in an incubator – thus getting the nickname, “Inky.”

A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she always put others before herself. Mary was a strong lady and fought to the end. She went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

A graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria, LA, Mary was retired from the Rapides Parish School Board office. She and her husband, Paul, moved to Bossier City, LA, in July 1985, where she lived until her death. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul; daughters, Tracy McGill and husband, Mike, of Shreveport, and Ashley Neal and husband, David, of Sarepta, LA.; and grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas, Maggie, and Molly McGill and Adam and Anna Neal.

The family wishes to thank Debbie Williams, RN, and Shelia Adams of Shreveport-Bossier Hospice for taking such loving care of Mary in her final days as well as the many friends and family who checked on her. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Asbury United Methodist Church.
