Mary Linda Harris
Mary Linda Harris of Haughton, LA, age 82, passed away on Dec. 19, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Los Angeles, CA, on July 11, 1943, and grew up in DeQueen, AR.
Linda was a paralegal for Attorney Don Weir Jr. in Shreveport, LA. Her career included working for the Caddo Sheriff, the FDIC and the Louisiana State Police, where she was their first female dispatcher. Linda was deeply devoted to God and her family. She loved traveling the world with her beloved husband John and being adventurous: learning to sail, flying in a glider, becoming a ham radio operator, practicing tai chi and earning an advanced degree in karate.
Linda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walter John Harris; three children, Teresa Hanselman of St. Louis, MO (Jim Hanselman), Joan “Mickey” Schoonover of Lake Saint Louis, MO (Bill Schoonover) and Michael Harris of Shreveport, LA (Rebecca Harris); and six grandchildren, Katherine Hanselman, James Hanselman IV, Emily Schoonover, Ethan Schoonover, Mary Laing and Sarah Harris. She is preceded in death by her parents, Odis Dale Smith and Edah Royalene Smith.
