At Tuesday’s City Council Meeting Mayor Tommy Chandler announced and introduced his
choice for the next person to lead the Bossier City Fire Department. Bossier City’s next Fire
Chief is Chief Blair Bockhaus.

Mayor Chandler said that the selection was a difficult decision
because he had to make a choice from a number of respected and qualified applicants. Chief
Bockhaus brings to this position over 21 years of service to the Bossier City Fire Dept. where he
currently serves as Administrative EMS Supervisor. Bockhaus has been a Paramedic for over 18
years and also served as a S.W.A.T. Medic with the Bossier City S.W.A.T. team.

Mayor Chandler is confident that Chief Bockhaus will do a great job as he replaces Chief Brad Zagone
who achieved and maintained a Class 1 rating for the Dept. Chief Bockhaus is aware of the
challenge and responsibility before him because one of Mayor Chandler’s highest priorities as
Mayor is Public Safety.

Mayor Chandler intentionally delayed his announcement until after the
recognition of the retirement of Fire Chief Brad Zagone because he did not want anything to
distract attention from the many years of Leadership and service provided to the City of Bossier
by Chief Zagone.

Mayor Chandler is very proud of the Bossier City Fire Dept. and is confident
that under Chief Bockhaus the Bossier City Fire Dept. will remain one of the best Fire Depts. in
the State of Louisiana.
