Men’s college basketball: BPCC eases past Coastal Bend


Diamante Brown scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers past Coastal Bend 73-68 in a Region XIV game Wednesday night at The Billy Montgomery Gym.

E.J. Clark added 17 points. He was 9-of-9 from the free throw line.

BPCC improved to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in Region XIV’s East Zone. Coastal Bend dropped to 6-9 and 0-5 in the West Zone.

Will LaPoole and Charlie Cochran added nine points each for the Cavs. LaPoole had eight rebounds.

BPCC had a big advantage at the free throw line. Brown made 8 of 12, and Aaron Gregg made all six of his attempts. As team, the Cavs were 23 of 27.

Coastal Bend went to the line just 10 times and made five.

Emmanuel White led Coastal Bend with 19 points. Lance Amir-Paul added 15.

BPCC travels to Jacksonville, Texas, on Saturday for a 4 p.m. Region XIV game against Jacksonville College (9-6, 2-2).
