A second-half rally fell short as the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers lost to Lamar State-Port Arthur 79-73 in a Region XIV game Saturday in Port Arthur, Texas.
BPCC, which had a four-game winning streak snapped, fell to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference. Lamar State improved to 9-6 and 2-3.
Derick Hamilton led the Cavaliers, who trailed 47-29 at the half, with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Four other Cavaliers scored in double figures — Jeremy Richard (11), Kendrick Delahoussaye (11), Jaeden Marshall (11) and Eric McKnight (10).
Christian Caldwell had nine rebounds and eight points.
Evan Palmquist led four Lamar State players in double figures with 19 points. Daniel Braster had 15 points and 13 rebounds.
BPCC made four more shots from the field than Lamar State. But the Seahawks were 20-of-29 from the free throw line to 8-of-11 for the Cavaliers.
BPCC returns to action at 7:30 Wednesday at Panola College.
