Men’s college basketball: BPCC gives top seed Kilgore scare before falling in the second round of the Region XIV Tournament

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers gave top seed and No. 3-ranked Kilgore College a big scare before falling to the Rangers 71-65 in the second round of the Region XIV Tournament on Thursday in Jacksonville, Texas.

The game was tied at 31 at the half.

BPCC trailed 67-65 with 27.9 seconds left but could get no closer. The Rangers hit four free throws down the stretch and the Cavs missed a couple of shots,

BPCC closed its season 16-14. Kilgore improved to 28-2 with one of those losses coming against the Cavs, 109-101, in overtime in Kilgore. The Rangers face Lamar State College in the semifinals Friday.

Kendrick Delahoussaye led BPCC with 23 points. He was a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line.

Jaeden Marshall and Derick Hamilton scored 12 each. 

Dantwan Grimes, who hit 6-of-9 3-point attempts, paced Kilgore with 27 points. The Rangers were 9-of-22 from behind the arc. BPCC was 3-of-12.
