Men’s college basketball: BPCC returns to action Friday

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers return to action Friday in a Region XIV game against San Jacinto College-Central in Houston.

BPCC (10-3) hasn’t played since falling to Mountain View College 75-62 at home on Dec. 13. The Cavaliers are tied for first with Trinity Valley Community College and Paris Junior College in Region XIV’s North Division.

San Jacinto-Central is 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the South Division.

Four Cavaliers are scoring in double figures — Dezmond McDaniel (16.7 ppg), Brandon Moore (12.8), Mubarak Muhammed (11.2) and Tim Collins (10.1).

McDaniel, a 6-foot sophomore from Kansas City, Mo., is the conference’s third-leading scorer. He has made 35 of 74 3-pointers (47.3 percent).

Muhammed, a 6-foot-8 sophomore from Abuja Nigeria, leads the team in rebounding at 9.7 per game, ranking No. 3 in Region XIV. Moore, a 6-6 sophomore from Dallas, is second on the team at 8.4.

Collins, a 6-2 sophomore from Dallas, leads the Cavs in assists at 4.3.
