The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers men’s basketball team defeated the Cy-Fair Learning Center Falcons, 84-78, in the 2017-18 season opener for both teams Wednesday at BPCC’s gym.

BPCC had four players score in double figures, including guard Jason Holliday, who led the team with 19 points. Guard Dezmond McDaniel chipped in with 18 points, while forward Brandon Moore and center Mubarak Muhammed added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Holliday, a freshman from Brusly, finished the night 5-of-11 from the floor, including 1-of-3 from beyond the arc. He was 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.

McDaniel, a sophomore transfer from Oral Roberts University, got the bulk of his points from beyond the arc as he was 4-of-9 on 3-pointers, while Moore shot 50 percent (5-of-10) from the floor. In addition to his 11 points, Muhammed, a sophomore from Nigeria, pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

The season-opening win was the first for BPCC since the 2012-13 season.
