The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers’ first season under head coach Chris Lovell ended Tuesday night with an 82-81 loss to Paris Junior College in the first round of the Region XIV men’s basketball tournament in Jacksonville, Texas.
BPCC, the No. 10 seed, finished the season 10-21. Seventh-seeded Paris improved to 16-12.
Jerry Perry led BPCC with 21 points. Cameron Burkett and Brandon Johnson scored 17 each. Lasani Johnson added 15. Brandon Moore had a team-high 14 rebounds. Burkett had nine.
Devin Jackson led five Paris players in double figures with 17 points.
The Cavs had a good night shooting 3-pointers, making 12 of 26 (46.2 percent). Perry hit five of 11 3s and was 6 of 20 overall. BPCC shot 42.2 percent (27 of 64) as team.
Paris sank 11 of 28 3-pointers (39.3 percent) and shot 44.3 percent (27 of 61) overall.
Neither team shot well from the free throw line. BPCC made 15 of 25 (60 percent) and Paris made 17 of 30 (56.7 percent). Burkett was the most accurate Cav at the line, making 4 of 5. He was also 5 of 9 from the field, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range.
The Cavs outrebounded the Dragons 42-37. Paris led 42-40 at the half.
