Men’s college basketball: Second-half surge lifts BPCC to win over Coastal Bend

Bossier Parish woke up from a sluggish first half to post a 75-59 Region XIV men’s basketball win over Coastal Bend Saturday at the Billy Montgomery Gym.

The Cavaliers snapped a three-game losing skid with the win to improve to 13-6 overall and 5-6 in the region. The Cougars dropped to 6-12, 1-9 with their second consecutive loss.

BPCC outscored Coastal Bend 47-32 in the 20 minutes of play as Charles Onan scored 13 of his team-best 15 points. Braylan McNeal finished with 14 points, splitting them evenly in the first and second half and Tyrone Iroghama added 10.

The Cavs finished the day with six 3-point makes led by Simeon Powell and Ajang Tong each making a pair behind the arc and finished with eight points. Guard Zae Barnett also finished with eight points, all coming in the second half.

Coastal Bend’s Jordan Lambert led all scorers with 21 points.
