Message from Chancellor Clark- Mask Wearing on Campus

Pilot Community,

I am formally announcing that as of Monday March 7th, 2022, LSUS will be suspending the requirement of face masks in all campus facilities (including academic buildings and classrooms) until further notice. While mask wearing will now be optional (but still encouraged) for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus, we are still maintaining social distancing and capacity protocols in classrooms and for on-campus events.

Unvaccinated students, faculty, and staff will continue weekly testing protocols for the remainder of the spring semester. The test site is located on the first floor of the Business Education (BE) building and is open from 8:30am – 6:00pm, Monday through Thursday and 8:30am – 1:00pm on Fridays. Students will receive proof of testing through their LSUS email each time they test; this proof will be required for unvaccinated students to participate in some extracurricular activities, such as athletics, leadership positions, etc. Additionally, individuals will not be required to take weekly COVID-19 tests if they submit proof of a positive COVID test within the past 90 days. Once that 90-day period has expired, they will be required to either receive the vaccine or begin weekly testing. Proof of a positive COVID test should be submitted through the Report Your Case Page. Proof of vaccination should be submitted through the Vaccination Reporting Page.

We will continue to monitor trends and will make the determination to further alter our current mitigation efforts when the time is right for our campus. I would again like to offer my sincere thanks to all of you for doing your part to keep our campus, and our wider community, safe and secure through your compliance and cooperation.
