Middle school boys basketball: Rusheon takes 8th-grade district lead

The Rusheon Rams took sole possession of the Bossier Parish middle school boys basketball eighth-grade district lead Thursday, slipping past the Greenacres Mustangs 30-29.

Javon Johnson led Rusheon with 15 points and Keyshun Johnson added 11.

Rusheon improved to 4-0 in district. Greenacres dropped to 3-1.

In another eighth-grade game reported to The Press-Tribune, Haughton defeated Elm Grove 42-24. The Bucs also won the seventh-grade game 55-28.

Amarion Lars had a double-double for the Haughton eighth-grade squad, scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

Jalen Lewis also tallied 14 points.

The Bucs seventh-grade team enjoyed balanced scoring.

Marlon Montgomery and Greg Travis scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. Austin Walton and Justin Walton added nine each.
