Middle school football: Haughton, Elm Grove split preseason games; Benton Middle wins


Haughton and Elm Grove split preseason middle school football games Tuesday at Preston Crownover Stadium.

Haughton won the eighth-grade game 16-13, and Elm Grove won the seventh-grade game 12-6.

In the eighth-grade game, Haughton’s Peyton Stovall completed 12 of 22 passes for 148 yards. He also ran for a touchdown.

Dustin Phillips scored on an eight-yard run and had a two-point conversion. Gage East had 53 yards receiving.

Keyshawn English caught a pass for a two-point conversion.

Jason Ebarb led Haughton with four tackles.

In the seventh-grade game, Joshua Sewell caught a 27-yard TD pass from Nick Hensley. Blayne Johnson led the defense with four tackles.

Elsewhere, Benton defeated North Webster 38-20 in an eighth-grade preseason game.

Clint Lasiter completed 11 of 16 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Owen Wainscott caught two passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Ashur Hall had five carries for 54 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 91 yards and a touchdown.

Hayden Hable had a 12-yard touchdown.

District games begin Tuesday. Elm Grove visits Benton, Rusheon plays Cope at Bossier’s Memorial Stadium, and Greenacres meets Haughton at Airline Stadium.
