The Benton Lady Tigers won the eight-grade girls basketball district championship as the 2015 season wrapped up Monday.
Benton and Haughton shared the seventh-grade crown.
The Lady Tigers eighth-grade team finished 9-1 after defeating Cope 29-21 Monday.
Haughton and Rusheon tied for second at 7-3.
The Benton and Haughton seventh-grade teams both finished 9-1. The teams split their two games.
On Monday, Benton downed Cope and Haughton defeated Elm Grove. In the other seventh-grade finale, Greenacres slipped past Rusheon 13-11.
In the other eighth-grade finales, Haughton defeated Elm Grove 27-15 and Rusheon downed Greenacres.
At Cope, Te’Quaza Chambers scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Benton eighth-graders.
Alisa Harris, Markayla Clark and Claire Ambrose combined for 15.
Clark had eight rebounds and Mad Simms five.
Benton coach Randy Ward praised Ambrose, Harris and Emily Cox for their defensive play.
Keiarra McCoy paced Cope with 11 points.
Jada Anderson pumped in 32 point to lead the Benton seventh-graders. She also had eight rebounds.
Katie Turner and Skyler Smith had four rebounds each.
Ward said Shanice Simpson and Marissa Laws were outstanding on defense.
Elizabeth Newman led Cope with six points. Myrikal Brown, Katie Curtis and Ashley Lee scored four apiece.
At Haughton, Takaiyah Sweeney led the Lady Bucs eighth-grade squad with nine points. Crystal Norton and Nicole Landry combined for 10.
Taralyn Sweeney topped the Haughton seventh-graders with 16 points. Annie Chapple added five.
At Rusheon, Shanterrica Jones hit a short jumper with 4 seconds left to lift Greenacres to the win in the seventh-grade game. She finished with five points, including a 3-pointer.
Toria Brocks led the Lady Mustangs with six. Bi’tianna Mosley led the Greenacres eighth-grade team with five.
