Middle school girls basketball: Cope eighth-grade team stays perfect in district play

The Cope Lady Cougars improved to 6-0 in district play with a 52-38 middle school girls basketball victory over the Rusheon Lady Rams on Wednesday at Cope.

In the other eighth-grade game, Haughton downed Greenacres in a close contest at Greenacres.

In seventh-grade games, Haughton got past Greenacres 14-9 and Cope defeated Rusheon 30-18.

At Cope, Kayla Hampton poured in 20 points to lead the Cope eighth-grade team to the victory.

Paris Endris added 11 points. Tierra Carter and Kori Rice combined for 13.

Reagan Amos tossed in 12 points for the victorious Lady Cougars seventh-grade squad.

Jania Jones added eight and JJ Cooper six.

At Greenacres, Zahria Shyne scored nine points to lead the Haughton seventh-graders to the victory. Other players scoring were Macey Schut, Daleese Wilson and Sara White.

Katie Kent, Jacqueline Clem, Ally Campbell and Catherine Dupree all scored for Greenacres.

Cha’Kendall Wyatt paced the Greenacres eighth-grade team with nine points. Kierra Nelson and Jina Baffuto combined for six.
