The Elm Grove Lady Eagles and Benton Lady Tigers split middle school girls basketball games Thursday at Elm Grove.
Elm Grove remained undefeated in seventh-grade district play with a 31-20 victory. Benton remained one game behind eighth-grade district leader Cope with a 28-11 victory.
Mikayla Williams scored 23 points to lead the Elm Grove seventh-grade victory to its sixth district win.
Ryuka Roddy and Marissa Schoth combined for 13 points for Benton. Roddy was also cited for her all-around performance.
Rylie Tippett and Tate Sellers were the team’s top rebounders. Sellers also played a very good all-around game.
Tahlor Walker and Ella Kate Malley scored eight points apiece as Benton’s eighth-grade squad improved to 5-1 in district and 8-1 overall.
Riley Grace Stanford added seven points. She and Malley led the Lady Tigers in rebounding. Kennedy Stevens and Walker were cited for their defensive play.
Malley had an outstanding all-round game.
