The Elm Grove Eagles won two hard-fought games over the Rusheon Rams in preseason middle school football action Thursday at Bossier’s Memorial Stadium.

The Eagles won the seventh-grade game 14-6 and the eighth-grade game 20-14.

James Jordan scored Elm Grove’s first touchdown in the seventh-grade game on a 3-yard run. Jamonte Gordon passed 3 yards to Derek Brown for the second.

Coach Clint Barnes praised the efforts of offensive linemen Mayne Lemon and Steven Gilbreath. Detrick Clayborn recovered a fumble and Malachi White had several tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Tanner Kirkland had an interception.

Gabe Larry threw three touchdown passes in the eighth-grade win. The first went to Brady Norcross and covered 60 yards. The second was a 40-yarder to Hayden Knotts. The third went to Jalen Reed from 15 yards out.

Larry completed seven of 10 passes for 145 yards. A.J. Green completed several passes to Sammy Feaster.

The offensive line of Ty Shelton, Ayden Inman, Palmer Hearne, Anthony Salazar and Johnny Tieu protected well throughout the game, Barnes said.

Luis Espino made two of three PAT attempts.

The annual Kiwanis Club eighth-grade middle school jamboree is Tuesday at Preston Crownover Stadium. A seventh-grade jamboree will also be held this year. It will be at Bossier High on Thursday.
