Benton Middle won two of three games in the annual Polar Bear Tournament at ULM on Friday, Feb. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 22.

Benton was among 23 teams competing.

The Lady Tigers defeated Family Community Christian 9-6 on a cold Friday night.

Pitching by Makaylyn Lawrence and Bella Jones helped Benton’s cold bats get going.  Chandler Disotell, Evvy Dooley and Kailyn Lawrence had great games and Layla Mitchell was solid behind the plate

Saturday’s early game was a tough one as the Lady Tigers lost to a solid Neville team 11-2. Hits by Dooley and Disotell and defense from Molly Parker and Lawrence helped the team.

Later Saturday, Benton defeated Mangham Junior High 15-6.

The bats really got going after a rough first inning. Hits by Dooley, Disotell, Layla Mitchell, Kailyn Moorhouse, Ava Porter (hit the top of the fence) and Makaylyn Lawrence helped the team win. Defense by Dooley, Lexi OGlee, and Maddy York helped the team have a solid game.
