BOSSIER CITY – A memorial service for Monica Margaret Austin-Jones, 83, will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Reverend Mary Richard.

Monica was born November 9, 1930 in Oxford, England to Dorothy Mary Austin and Ernest Stanley Austin and died December 4, 2013 in Bossier City, LA. She was a graduate of Oxford University in England and served in the Royal Air Force. After her marriage to Billy Joe Jones, she traveled throughout the world with the United States Air Force. Monica retired from the United States Federal Government after 20 years of service. During her career she was stationed in Germany and at Barksdale Air Force Base. After retirement, Monica worked for the Shreveport Symphony and Holy Cross Episcopal Church. At Holy Cross she was a faithful servant and especially enjoyed working Soup Days. She was a long-time member of the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association.

Her husband and parents preceded her in death.

Monica is survived by her brother, S. Alan Austin of Oxford, England and four children, Stephen Bruce Jones of Amarillo, TX, Judith Anne (Ed) Beach of Alpharetta, GA, Susan Therese Varcie (Tyler Crumb) of Jackson, MS and Meredith Jane Austin Lucius (Dale Warren) of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Marlon (Allison) Beach, Christopher Adam Varcie, Darren Andrew Varcie, Erin Marie Crumb, Brian Joseph Crumb, Mark William Robert Warren, Malayna Margaret Lucius and Mason John Warren; great grandson, Max D. Beach; very dear friends, Father Kenneth Paul, Ceil Cowan, Nola Lawrence and cousin, Doris Pitcher of Devon England.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation . The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Bossier City Fire and Police Departments for their compassionate services during this time.
