Mudbug Madness Festival to be held in downtown Shreveport May 26-29

Memorial Day Weekend festival will feature three stages of live music including Cajun, zydeco, country and rock n’ roll   

SHREVEPORT, LAOrganizers of the 33rd annual Mudbug Madness Festival have announced details of the event, which will take place on Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-29, 2016, in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza.

Mudbug Madness, which was named a Top 20 Event for 2015 by the Southeast Tourism Society, features three stages of live entertainment as well as arts and crafts vendors, activities for children,  and Louisiana crawfish served every imaginable way. The festival is organized and presented by Downtown Shreveport Unlimited and sponsored by CenterPoint Energy. Complete festival details are available at www.mudbugmadness.com.

Live entertainment headliners on the Reinhart Foodservice Stage include: Wayne Toups & ZydeCajun, 8 p.m., Thursday, May 26; Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience, 9 p.m., Friday, May 27; Bonsoir Catin, 2 p.m., Saturday, May 28; Waylon Thibodeaux, 9 p.m., Saturday, May 28; Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys, 6 p.m., Sunday, May 29; and Rockin’ Dopsie & The Zydeco Twisters, 9 p.m., Sunday, May 29. Live entertainment headliners on the Fox 33/KMSS Swamp Stage include: Daniel Smalley and the Nine, 7 p.m., Thursday, May 26; Ghost Town Blues Band, 9 p.m., Friday, May 27; Orphan Annie, 6:30 p.m. and Memphis Soul, 9 p.m., Saturday, May 28; Sweet Tea Trio, 7 p.m., and Shenandoah, 9:30 p.m., Sunday, May 29. In addition to hot, boiled crawfish and a variety of vendors selling authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine, the 33rd annual Mudbug Madness Festival will feature crawfish eating and calling contests for all ages. The Sportspectrum Mudbug Madness 5K will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 26. Hands-on art activities, including the painting of the annual Mudbug Madness Festival mural, will take part throughout the festival.

Mudbug Madness Festival is open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. Admission is free until 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Admission is $5 per person after 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and all day long on Saturday and Sunday. Children under 8 years of age and all military with ID are admitted free at all times. Free admission for active and retired military is made possible courtesy of Shreveport Regional Airport.
