Several neighborhoods in Bossier City and the parish are gearing up for National Night Out which takes place tonight, October 4, from 6-9 p.m.
The Bossier City Police Department has 10 events are registered while the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office has 23 registered events as residents will come to spend an evening outdoors with neighbors, police officers and firefighters in this annual crime fighting effort.
Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington will kick off the night’s celebration at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday with a short press conference at the Kingston Plantation subdivision block party, located at the 100 block of Colonel Burt Blvd. in Benton.
“We always look forward to National Night Out because it gives us a chance to directly visit with the people we serve,” said Sheriff Whittington. “Folks have shown tremendous support for our deputies over the past few months in light of national events, and we so appreciate how our residents have rallied behind the ‘Thin Blue Line’.”
The goal of Shreveport-Bossier City Night Out is to: (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership; and (3) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
