Pita Pit franchise set to open in Shreveport Monday, October 26

Tired of the same old lunch spot?  Are you looking for healthier fast food options?

The Canadian based restaurant, Pita Pit, is Shreveport-Bossier’s latest restaurant and is set to open on Monday, October 26.

The business is family co-owned by husband and wife teams; Alicia and Matt Smith, and Patty and David Smith (Matt’s parents).  Alicia Smith shared the reasoning behind the team’s desire to bring a Pita Pit to the area:  “My in-laws, Patty and David Smith, were visiting my sister-in-law in Sumter, South Carolina.  She wanted to take them to her family’s new favorite restaurant, Pita Pit.  My in-laws loved the fresh and healthy concept as well as the fast convenience of it, and knew it was what Shreveport Bossier was missing.  With my background in Nutrition, and Matt, Patty, and David’s background in business, the idea was born!”

Alicia worked for 11 years as a clinical dietician/diabetes educator for 11 years at Willis-Knighton Health System before opening the family’s franchise and understands the importance of having healthy food choices for today’s fast-paced culture.

Pita Pit will hold a grand opening and joint ribbon cutting celebration with the Bossier Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Wednesday, October 28, 10:30 a.m., at 1106 Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy, Suite 110 in Shreveport.  In celebration of their grand opening and a desire to give back to the community, Pita Pit is donating 10% of sales during their first week of operation to the following organizations:

  • Monday, October 26– Muscular Dystrophy Association
  • Tuesday, October 27– Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission
  • Wednesday, October 28– The Warrior Network
  • Thursday, October 29– Providence House
  • Friday, October 30– Common Ground
