Hundreds of community members touched by cancer met for their yearly fundraiser to battle the disease Friday night at a different location than usual. After several years of gathering at Airline High School, Bossier Parish’s Relay for Life was held at Louisiana Downs. This year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Bossier City featured 65 survivors and 35 teams. Their help saw the 2014 Bossier City Relay for Life bring in more than $55,000. The goal is to raise $92,000 by August. The money goes toward research, showing patients how to cope with their new identities, such as wearing makeup and dealing with hair loss. Also, the money goes toward transporting patients to treatment.
